Swallowing stimulation refers to targeted neurostimulation therapies designed to support recovery of swallowing function in individuals with dysphagia. These approaches use electrical or sensory stimulation to enhance neuromuscular activity in the swallowing apparatus including the pharyngeal muscles and associated neural pathways. Integrating peripheral stimulation with standard therapy can improve swallow biomechanics, reduce aspiration risk, and enhance overall swallow safety and efficiency in patients with post‑stroke dysphagia or other neurologic impairments affecting swallow function.
